Recovering from Tropical Cyclone Alfred

We have developed the TC Alfred Recovery Plan using information from:

  • impact assessments
  • community requests
  • key partner agencies e.g. Energex, SES
  • not-for-profit and volunteer groups in the Gold Coast’s recovery network.

The plan focuses on the four areas of recovery:

  • human and social – support for vulnerable populations, mental health services
  • infrastructure – restoring roads, bridges, and public spaces
  • environmental - restoring beaches, parks, and green spaces
  • economic - support for businesses and local economy.

It also incorporates a fifth area of action - to improve our resilience for the future.

The timeline for the plan is:

  • Early Recovery Phase - up to 6 weeks post-event.
  • Medium Term Recovery Phase - the following 6 months.
  • Long Term Recovery Phase - ongoing from post 6-months.
