Proposed changes to penalty unit amounts for certain minor parking offences

What changes are proposed?

The City has recently undertaken a review of parking offences identified as being a high risk to the community. This review involved benchmarking the penalty units prescribed with other South-East Queensland (SEQ) Councils, as well as undertaking a risk assessment of the minor parking offences currently listed within Schedule 3 of Subordinate Local Law 2.

The City proposes to reduce the penalty unit amount for two parking offences and to increase the penalty unit amount for one parking offence. This will better reflect the relative risks associated with each offence.

The below table outlines the proposed changes in penalty unit amounts and monetary amounts based on the current value of a penalty unit of $161.

Do you believe the proposed changes better reflect the risk for the offences?
