Austinville Conservation Area Landscape Concept Plan
We are developing a Landscape Concept Plan for a proposed day use area within the Austinville Conservation Area (Mudgeeraba Creek Section). The plan responds to increased visitation and aims to improve safety and access, provide appropriate visitor facilities, and protect the area’s natural environment. It supports sustainable, well‑managed recreation that balances community use with conservation outcomes.
The Landscape Concept Plan will define the layout, scale and design of the proposed day use area, including elements such as car parking, public amenities, shelters, picnic facilities, interpretive signage and improved access arrangements. This will inform detailed design and future implementation. While the overall project is confirmed, community feedback is being sought on the specific elements within the draft Concept Plan.
We are seeking community feedback to understand:
Which design elements the community supports or does not support, including proposed day use facilities such as picnic areas, shelters, toilets, car parking, creek access points, and trail connection points.
How people currently use the area, including whether they have visited the Austinville Waterhole or accessed the valley for recreation in the past.
Whether improved access and facilities, including a more accessible day use area and walking trails would encourage the community to spend more time in nature.
Any additional opportunities, concerns, or local insights that could help refine the final design before it progresses to 100% completion.
Have your say
Your feedback will help shape the final concept plan and ensure the new day use area reflects community needs, while protecting the natural values of the Austinville valley.
