Winders Park is a popular recreation park located on Currumbin Creek. The park provides opportunities for passive and active recreation, including water sports. Winders Park has been identified for an upgrade to increase capacity, improve park user experience and meet future demands created by population growth.
Existing park facilities include a boat ramp, public toilets, fishing / watercraft pontoon, car parking, playgrounds, barbeques and picnic facilities. Most of the existing assets are in poor condition and nearing end of life and require an upgrade.
To increase the area of valuable waterfront open space and improve user safety, removal of the internal ring road is proposed. There will be no net loss of car parking numbers with a new car park proposed in the design.
Preliminary concept plan of the proposed upgrades has been prepared for community and stakeholder feedback. See our Preliminary Concept Plan for a detailed look.
Proposed park improvements include:
new car & trailer parking and vehicle access to existing boat ramp
pedestrian and cycle paths
new public toilets with increased capacity
consolidated play space
picnic and barbeque facilities accessible for all users
creek edge revetment treatments
grassed picnic areas with waterfront views.
