Why are we revitalising Greenmount Headland?

Many of the structures at Greenmount Headland are getting older and need to be replaced to keep our community safe. The revitalisation of these important community assets will ensure a more enjoyable and accessible space for everyone, whether you’re there for a relaxing visit or some outdoor fun, while also making sure the spaces are resilient and vibrant for the future. The City recognises the importance of this special place, and wants to hear from you. Get involved in the project by sharing your feedback on the draft concept plans.

How can I have my say about the project?

Jump online between the 12 November 2024 and 3 December 2024 to view the draft concept plan and design opportunities. Once you have reviewed the plans, you can complete the online survey to let us know your thoughts. The survey will capture your feedback on the proposed designs, while giving us a better understanding of how we can authentically represent the identity, history and stories of the Greenmount Headland through artwork, interpretive elements and signage.

We will also be holding three face-to-face pop-ups onsite, where you can find out more about the designs in person. We encourage you to drop past and say hello to the project team at one of the following times:

    1. Pop-up 1: 19 November 2024, 7:00-10:00am
    2. Pop-up 2: 23 November 2024, 9:00am – 12:00pm
    3. Pop-up 3: 28 November 2024, 7:00-10:00am

I can’t come to a community pop-up session. Can I still talk to somebody about the draft Concept Plan?

Of course. You can email gchaveyoursay@goldcoast.qld.gov.au or call the City on 07 5629 5629 to speak to one of our team about the Concept Plan.

Is this the same as the Snapper Rocks to Rainbow Bay Foreshore Precinct Masterplan?

The City is currently undertaking engagement to inform a draft master plan for the Snapper Rocks to Rainbow Bay Foreshore Precinct. Although separate projects, there is significant overlap between the projects given their location. Together these two plans are working to protect and enhance this iconic area, so it can be enjoyed by generations to come.

What will happen to the toilets?

The toilet block just north of the Greenmount Headland has been recently upgraded, providing functional and accessible amenity for the public. The Southern toilet block is also providing functional amenity for the public, as a result, changes to these toilet blocks is not included within the scope of this project.

What are you doing about the waterfall?

Many in the community will remember the waterfall that used to function at the Greenmount Headland that was decommissioned due to the drought in the early 2000s. The City is currently undertaking a structural review to assess the safety and longevity of the structure, the results from this assessment will allow the City to make an informed decision on how we can best utilise this space.

    What is the geotechnical investigation?

As part of the Greenmount Headland Revitalisation, the project team will be facilitating a geotechnical investigation to understand the slope stability of the project area. To minimise disruption, the exercise will be facilitated over the course of one evening (weather dependant). Those affected by nightworks will be notified via letterbox drop.

What will the construction process for this project be?

Following completion of the design phase in 2026, it is estimated construction will commence in 2027. We recognise that this is a significant project and the City is committed to ongoing and transparent communication as it progresses through different phases.

Through this engagement process we are eager to understand how we can best work with you to navigate any disruptive period.

How do I stay informed about future updates?

We are committed to ongoing communication and updates on the project. Sign-up via the survey, or at Greenmount headland renewal for regular updates and information.
