About today’s yoga….
Love Deva Premal.
Love your singing bowl and chimes.
Love your practice.
Your class was especially polished today, if that is the word I am looking for. Your classes are always well organised and so much packed into the hour. But today it seemed different. More so. Maybe you sensed that someone was observing your class from a different perspective to a participant. I would say that Ros would have been thoroughly impressed with your style, technique and delivery. Not that it really matters anyway as you are our facilitator now.
I also hope you didn’t mind me introducing you to Ros, or for that matter, Ros to you.
Both of you are lovely spiritual ladies. It was from a good intention on my part.
I needed to share this with you.
All the best for your second swimmers’ meet tomorrow.
Amen

“I rejoined Janet Thomas’ exercise group after being absent for 2 years with no problems.
I joined again as Janet is so lovely and caring for us older ladies and gentlemen. She has a lovely personality and though she is younger and fitter than us (lol) she makes sure we are capable of doing the class.
Lovely group of people in their 50s 60s 70s and 80s and we go have coffee and chat afterwards”

“I have only recently joined 40s plus fitness exercise classes. My fitness, strength and flexibility have already improved. The instructor Janet Thomas modifies the exercises to each individual‘s ability. The classes are fun and I enjoy the social aspect too”

“I have been enjoying Janet Thomas’s exercise classes for about 10 years. I’m constantly being told I do not look 81 and I know I owe a lot of my youthfulness to this challenging and enjoyable class. Janet constantly challenges us and varies the exercises every week, concentrating mostly on a cardio, strength training, core, balance and stretching. I’ve also made many friendships and sometimes Janet has to raise her voice to stop us chattering!
I have the upmost respect for Janet and highly recommend her classes”.
Love it, Love it!

“What more could you want …keeping fit and active with like minded friends, all under the expert care of our instructor Janet Thomas. Highly recommend.”

Shoshana's classes at Elanora are simply the most divine yoga practice I have ever attended. I've been doing yoga for over 20 years and I find Shoshana my favourite yoga teacher yet. Best start to the week. It fully equips me for the week ahead. Big love! Xo
I've been doing yoga now for many years, but have have come to particularly love Shoshana's classes at Eleanora and kirra. She is filled with love and kindness as she gently takes us all through our yoga poses. One of my best teachers and I've had many over the years
A testimonial from Judy Osborne Staying Stronger Coombabah - MEE Active- Rachelle
For the past 12 and a half years I have participated in the Active and Healthy exercise program at Marj Shipman Hall.
I have been diagnosed with Osteoporosis and at times have been given bone strengthening medications. At present I no longer take these. Since my recent bone density x-ray it has shown that I no longer have bone loss in my hip area. I really do believe this is because of this excellent exercise program and the wonderful teachers we have had over that time.
My current teacher, Rachelle has shown her great expertise in running the classes.
I would recommend anyone who has general good health to come along and join in this class and have fun too! Regards, Judy Osborne.

"I am 76 and have been attending Janet’s classes on Mondays and Wednesdays for about 6 years. I enjoy her routines because they are always different...I enjoy the music and I enjoy the camaraderie! It has, no doubt enabled me to maintain my health which has been commented on by my doctors, and I’ll be continuing with her for the foreseeable future. She tends to work all parts of our bodies and the whole class agrees that we are in much better shape than a lot of our peers! These are “over 60s” classes and whilst we are worked hard, it is never “too much”."

Rachelle MEE Active
So grateful to be part of your group. What do I love about group fitness (Nervous Newbies)
What's not to love. A list.
1. Our wonderful, warm, knowledgeable & stimulating leader (that's you Rachelle).
2. An amazing group of fun but motivated Tuesday exercise friends.
3. A great programme of exercises that changes often enough to NEVER get boring.
4. The sort of peer pressure that gets me out of bed happily everyTuesday morning.
5. The fact that every bit of my arthritic body (including my rotten knees) moves with less pain since starting group fitness.
I could go on & on. Never been to an exercise group I've enjoyed more & I've done heaps (yoga, Pilates, Zumba, boxercise).
Favourite part - hard to pick but do love any exercise that targets the core.
Cheers Anne W.

I CAN BE HEALTHY AND ACTIVE
For me, once I retired from work, I had to be very aware of my –
MOBILITY
FLEXABILITY
GENERAL HEALTH AND WELL BEING
EATING HABITS AND EXERCISE
I started the classes and quickly realised that my body problems that had been slowly developing over the years and some I had had for many years, need not be permanent.
Those problems that were and had been creeping up include-
BACKACKE
LACK OF CORE STRENGTH
POSTURE
FLEXABILITY
MOBILITY
LUNG PROBLEMS
The beauty of the classes is that-
- Everyone is individual
- All inclusive language from the instructor allowing everyone to work within their own ability to the best of their ability
- All attendees are like minded
- All attendees have much the same goals and reasons for attendance
- We have the opportunity to discuss lifestyle choices that can only add to positive outcomes.
- The cost is minimal which allows people from all walks of life to participate.
- The time of the classes vary so that it is quite easy to find a session or sessions that fit into your week
- Social interaction- which is so important as personal situations change. A network of friends can develop.
- As medical issues develop, the positive aspects of having been involved in the Healthy and Active programme make recovery so much easier and problems minimised
- Attendees can be very comfortable in a “non gym “environment
I urge you to take advantage of classes available, all of which can be found in the ACTIVE AND HEALTHY booklet.
