City of Gold Coast's award winning Active and Healthy program has been getting thousands of residents up, out and active every week for many years. There are over 300 free or low cost activities running weekly across the city all run by you, our valued partners.
It is a requirement that we report on the participant numbers of each Active and Healthy activity that we offer as part of the program. By completing participant numbers for each activity you run, you will help us understand how popular and engaged our residents are with our community activities. There are just a few short questions.
Please ensure you report attendance numbers for each activity you run during the Program.
Thank you!
City of Gold Coast Active and Healthy team.

Janet Thomas 40s Plus Fitness class - Staying Stronger testimonial. Mudgeeraba Memorial Hall
"I am 76 and have been attending Janet’s classes on Mondays and Wednesdays for about 6 years. I enjoy her routines because they are always different...I enjoy the music and I enjoy the camaraderie! It has, no doubt enabled me to maintain my health which has been commented on by my doctors, and I’ll be continuing with her for the foreseeable future. She tends to work all parts of our bodies and the whole class agrees that we are in much better shape than a lot of our peers! These are “over 60s” classes and whilst we are worked hard, it is never “too much”."

A testimonial from my participant Anne West. Anne comes to Nervous Newbies and sometimes to Staying Strong at Coombabah. Rachelle MEE Active
So grateful to be part of your group. What do I love about group fitness (Nervous Newbies) What's not to love. A list. 1. Our wonderful, warm, knowledgeable & stimulating leader (that's you Rachelle). 2. An amazing group of fun but motivated Tuesday exercise friends. 3. A great programme of exercises that changes often enough to NEVER get boring. 4. The sort of peer pressure that gets me out of bed happily everyTuesday morning. 5. The fact that every bit of my arthritic body (including my rotten knees) moves with less pain since starting group fitness. I could go on & on. Never been to an exercise group I've enjoyed more & I've done heaps (yoga, Pilates, Zumba, boxercise). Favourite part - hard to pick but do love any exercise that targets the core. Cheers Anne W.

A testimonial from my participant June Habner. June comes to 3 of my classes each week. Monday and Friday Staying Strong Coombabah and Thursday Growing Stronger at Labrador. Rachelle MEE Active
I CAN BE HEALTHY AND ACTIVE For me, once I retired from work, I had to be very aware of my – MOBILITY FLEXABILITY GENERAL HEALTH AND WELL BEING EATING HABITS AND EXERCISE I started the classes and quickly realised that my body problems that had been slowly developing over the years and some I had had for many years, need not be permanent. Those problems that were and had been creeping up include- BACKACKE LACK OF CORE STRENGTH POSTURE FLEXABILITY MOBILITY LUNG PROBLEMS The beauty of the classes is that- - Everyone is individual - All inclusive language from the instructor allowing everyone to work within their own ability to the best of their ability - All attendees are like minded - All attendees have much the same goals and reasons for attendance - We have the opportunity to discuss lifestyle choices that can only add to positive outcomes. - The cost is minimal which allows people from all walks of life to participate. - The time of the classes vary so that it is quite easy to find a session or sessions that fit into your week - Social interaction- which is so important as personal situations change. A network of friends can develop. - As medical issues develop, the positive aspects of having been involved in the Healthy and Active programme make recovery so much easier and problems minimised - Attendees can be very comfortable in a “non gym “environment I urge you to take advantage of classes available, all of which can be found in the ACTIVE AND HEALTHY booklet.
