What is the Eaglemont Estate Master Plan?

The Eaglemont Estate Master Plan will guide how the site may be used and developed over time. It will consider community needs, environmental and cultural values, and opportunities to improve amenities and access for both locals and visitors.

Why is the City developing a master plan for this site?

The City of Gold Coast acquired Eaglemont Estate to provide community infrastructure and support appropriate nature-based tourism. A master plan is needed to ensure any future use of the site is carefully planned, balanced and sustainable.

    What is nature-based tourism?

Nature-based tourism involves experiences in natural settings that focus on sustainability, conservation and education. Examples may include guided walks, nature-based learning experiences, eco accommodation or low-impact visitor facilities that help people enjoy the area responsibly.

What is the Community Reference Group (CRG)?

The CRG is a small group of community members who will provide local knowledge, perspectives and feedback to help inform the master planning process. It is an advisory group and does not make decisions.

    What will CRG members do?

    CRG members will:

    • receive updates on the project
    • share their knowledge and experiences
    • identify risks and opportunities
    • provide feedback to help inform the master plan.

    How are CRG members selected?

Members will be selected through an Expression of Interest (EOI) process. Applications will be assessed against criteria to ensure a balanced group representing a range of community perspectives, including residents, businesses and environmental interests.

    How much time is involved?

CRG members will attend a series of in-person meetings over approximately 12 months. Meetings will run for around 2 hours and will be held at Eaglemont Estate or Springbrook Community Hall.

Will CRG members make decisions about the project?

No. The CRG is an advisory group. It will provide input and feedback to help inform the master plan, but final decisions will be made by the City of Gold Coast.

How will community feedback be used?

Feedback from the community, including input from the CRG and previous consultation, will be considered alongside technical studies and expert advice to help shape the draft master plan. A summary of feedback will be shared publicly.

Is this project related to the proposed Springbrook Cableway?

No. The Eaglemont Estate Master Plan is a separate project and is not connected to the proposed Springbrook Cableway.

Will there be more opportunities to have a say?

Yes. Once a draft master plan is developed, it will be shared with the community for further feedback.

How can I stay informed if I’m not selected for the CRG?

You can stay updated by visiting this project page on GC Have Your Say, where updates, documents and future engagement opportunities will be shared.
