What is Ridgeway Park?

Ridgeway Park is a three-hectare site in Southport that the City acquired in 2024 for future public recreational parkland.

The site is planned to become a neighbourhood park that provides opportunities for walking, relaxation, play, fitness and connection with nature.

Why is the City consulting the community?

The City is seeking feedback on the concept plan to understand community support for the overall design and potential features, to gather further ideas and to help guide future priorities for the park.

Community feedback will help inform future design development and staged delivery priorities.

    What improvements are proposed?

The draft concept plan includes a range of potential improvements such as:

    • pathway connections and walking circuit
    • on-site car park
    • drinking fountains
    • bins
    • picnic tables and seating
    • pedestrian crossing across Benowa Road
    • picnic shelters
    • nature-based or adventure playground
    • mountain bike trails or skills park
    • fitness equipment
    • further landscaping and tree planting.

Will all improvements be built at once?

No. Delivery is expected to occur in stages over time, subject to community support, future funding, approvals and detailed design.

This staged approach allows improvements to be prioritised over time.

Will trees or vegetation be removed?

Protecting the natural character of the site is a project priority. The current concept plan will preserve all significant trees; however, some minor vegetation (low shrubs) may be impacted/removed, subject to further detailed design work. Further planting opportunities are also being considered as part of the concept plan.

    How can I provide feedback?

You can provide feedback by completing the online survey on this page during the consultation period.

Consultation is open from 12 May to 2 June 2026.

    What happens after consultation closes?

All feedback will be reviewed and analysed.

A community engagement outcomes report will be prepared, and the results will help inform future design development and delivery priorities.
