Oceanway Completion

Help shape the future of the Gold Coast Oceanway

The Gold Coast Oceanway is a shared beachfront pathway network for walking, cycling, rolling and relaxing that connects beaches, parks and coastal neighbourhoods from Coolangatta to The Spit. Approximately two-thirds of the Oceanway is already complete, with only 11.75 kilometres of missing links remaining.

We're investigating how the remaining sections could be completed to create a continuous 36-kilometre coastal pathway. The Oceanway Completion Strategy is a key action within the Gold Coast City Transport Strategy 2031 and supports broader goals for active transport, accessibility, recreation and coastal connectivity.

The Oceanway Completion Strategy is being progressed through a staged, evidence-based process. Community feedback, environmental investigations, technical assessments and statutory approvals will all contribute to future decision-making. No final decisions have been made regarding the remaining missing links.

Future decisions will be informed by community feedback as well as environmental, engineering, coastal and technical investigations.

What are we consulting on?

This consultation seeks to understand:

• how you use and value the coastline

• your priorities for safety, accessibility and connectivity

• feedback on amenities to deliver optimum experience

• information you would like to see as planning progresses.

What are we not consulting on?

This consultation focuses on understanding community views, values and priorities to help inform future planning. We're not seeking feedback on a preferred design, route or construction proposal. Final alignments, construction timing, funding decisions and environmental approvals will be considered through future planning, assessment and decision-making processes.

Have your say

Consultation is open until 11:59pm Monday 24 August 2026.

Complete the survey and have your say.

As a thank you for taking the time to share your views, participants can choose to enter a prize draw to win one of four $250 EFTPOS gift vouchers (terms and conditions apply).
