Concluded consultation details:

The Gold Coast has 850 conservation reserves and the City’s Draft Nature Based Recreation Plan will look at new ways we can all get more out of the city.

This draft Nature Based Recreation (NBR) Plan is being developed to share and promote the outstanding nature based opportunities for recreation in our natural areas. Currently the Plan is in draft form and we encourage residents and visitors to have their say on recreation activities based in natural areas in the Gold Coast.

Nature based recreation includes bush walking, mountain biking, horse riding, trail running, picnicking, canoeing and kayaking, eco-tourism, camping and more.

Nature based recreation is defined as outdoor recreation activities that (1) are dependent on the natural environment; (2) have an appreciation of nature as a key motivational factor; (3) do not require substantial modification to the natural environment; and (4) are environmentally sustainable, as determined by an ongoing monitoring program.

The NBR Plan addresses nature based recreation in natural areas managed by the city. However, if walking, horse riding or mountain bike tracks on city land continue through adjoining State or other land tenures, these have been included for consistency.

To have your say:

Community Engagement runs from Thursday 15 January to Friday 27 February, 2015.

We look forward to receiving your comments and suggestions.
