The City of Gold Coast (City) is delivering the next major piece in the evolution of our HOTA cultural precinct – an 1800-seat Lyric Theatre to expand the performing arts offering.
The new HOTA Lyric Theatre will bring around 200 performances and shows right to our doorstep each year, including international and national touring musicals, ballet, opera, comedy and live music.
It will be a world-class experience for residents and visitors and create local jobs for our arts workers in the Gold Coast’s growing performing arts industry.
When operational, it will generate economic and employment benefits for the Gold Coast:
$62 million in total sales contributed to the economy annually
$28 million value added to the local economy annually
over 1200 jobs for local arts workers, retailers, hospitality, accommodation and visitor associated businesses
attracting an extra 250,000+ visitors to the HOTA precinct annually, boosting surrounding businesses.
Since 2013, the City has been proudly delivering on the masterplan which has cemented HOTA as one of Australia’s preeminent cultural precincts. The new HOTA Lyric Theatre will complement existing cultural experiences within HOTA and broaden the offering of the precinct.
We want to hear from you about what you’d like to see and experience at the new HOTA Lyric Theatre.
Also, we need your support to encourage the Queensland and Australian governments to partner with us to fund and deliver this exciting legacy project.
Have your say on the new HOTA Lyric Theatre between Tuesday 25 June and Monday 15 July 2024. Take the survey now.
