Gold Coast Cycle Centre

The City of Gold Coast is investigating options to improve the Gold Coast Cycle Centre in Nerang.

The Centre is an important cycling facility for the Gold Coast and includes a velodrome, clubhouse and criterium racing track. It is also located next to Nerang National Park, with direct access to popular mountain bike trails.

We want to understand how the Centre is currently used and how it could better support cyclists, clubs and the local community in the future.

What’s being investigated?

Core elements for upgrades under consideration include:

  • how existing cycling facilities are arranged on site
  • safer pedestrian and cycle access into the Nerang State Forest
  • parking and site access improvements
  • mountain bike and youth cycling features

Why are we doing this?

The Centre was upgraded prior to the 2018 Commonwealth Games. We are now reviewing what further improvements may be needed to lead this site into the future.

This consultation will help us:

  • understand who uses the centre and how often
  • identify what works well and what could be improved
  • test early ideas before any future planning proceeds
  • understand any issues for nearby residents, such as traffic and parking

Have your say

Consultation is open from 21 April to 4 May 2026.

We’d like to hear from:

  • people who currently use the Gold Coast Cycle Centre
  • cycling clubs and organised cycling groups
  • recreational cyclists and mountain bike riders who use nearby trails
  • local residents, particularly those living close to the centre

Have your say by completing the online survey.

Feedback from this consultation will be used to shape the next stage of planning for the Gold Coast Cycle Centre.
