FAQs
What is a Walking Network Plan (WNP)?
A Walking Network Plan (WNP) is a strategic framework designed by the Department of Transport and Main Roads to enhance walkability within a specific area, typically encompassing a catchment of up to two kilometres. It involves mapping preferred walking routes based on data analysis and stakeholder engagement and developing an action program for implementation. The goal is to create a safe, comfortable, and connected walking environment that facilitates easy access to key destinations.
How will this WNP improve recreational trails in Burleigh?
This WNP focuses on filling connectivity gaps between natural areas in Burleigh, including Burleigh Heads National Park, Burleigh Ridge Park, Ocean Parade Bush Parklands, Tchoobey Reserve, Tallebudgera Creek Conservation Park, amongst others. The aim is to analyse how the City can make pathways and recreational trails safer and more enjoyable for walking. By addressing community feedback, the plan will prioritise areas for improvement, ensuring better access to natural spaces and fostering healthier, more active lifestyles.
How will my feedback influence the WNP?
Your feedback is essential in shaping the plan. By sharing your thoughts and identifying areas that need improvement, you directly help prioritise key projects. Community input ensures the WNP reflects the needs and preferences of residents and visitors alike.
