Draft Broadbeach Foreshore Land Management Plan

Consultation has concluded

Have your say and help shape the future of our much-loved Broadbeach Foreshore.

The City has prepared a draft Broadbeach Foreshore Land Management Plan (LMP) under the provisions of the Land Act 1994 to guide Council decisions relating to the use and management of the foreshore.

The aim of the plan is to protect the integrity of the foreshore by considering the balance between general recreational use and organised community and commercial activities.

The draft LMP proposes that all existing land uses and activities continue in the reserve. Some new land uses and improvements are proposed, including:

  • extended community and commercial events and activations at Kurrawa Foreshore (more than 14 days in a calendar year and not involving permanent infrastructure). This could include a summer open air cinema, beach tennis fixture, beach club with licensed bar and kitchen, and family friendly entertainment
  • new usable public space to enhance the Kurrawa Foreshore
  • new/improved lighting for the existing beach volleyball courts to enable night play
  • a change to restrict community celebrations, temporary events and activations and weekend markets to north of Pratten Park playground and carpark to provide greater access of the dog-off leash area for local residents.

We want to ensure the foreshore continues to provide opportunities for active and passive recreation, while maintaining its position as a premier event destination for residents and visitors alike.

Community engagement runs from Friday 31 May to Thursday 4 July 2024.
