Waste and Resource Recovery Management Plan

Consultation has concluded

We’re developing the City of Gold Coast’s new Waste and Resource Recovery Plan and we want your input.

The current version of the plan, the Solid Waste Strategy 2024, is coming to an end in December 2024 and we’re developing a new Waste and Resource Recovery Plan.

  • We want to hear your thoughts on waste and recycling services and charges on the Gold Coast.
  • We want to know what kind of new or improved services you’d like us to offer.
  • How do you want to pay for waste services to ensure a fair approach?
  • What help do you need to reach the State’s recycling and emissions targets over the next three years?

The City has a legislative responsibility under the Waste Reduction and Recycling Act 2011 to maintain a waste and resource recovery management plan that details:

  • waste reduction and recycling targets
  • actions to be taken to improve waste reduction and recycling
  • details of current and proposed waste infrastructure
  • the management and monitoring of the local government's performance under the plans
  • information about achieving continuous improvement in waste management.

Talk to us about how you reduce waste to landfill and what you’d be willing to do in years to come. What are your priorities for waste reduction to ensure a sustainable future for our city?

By completing our 5-minute online survey you can go in the draw to WIN 1 of 5 $500 eftpos gift cards (terms and conditions apply).

Consultations runs from Tuesday 16 July until Monday 12 August 2024.
