Rudd Park

Rudd Park is a quieter, more under-utilised area compared to other spaces within the Burleigh Heads foreshore precinct. This project looks at how the park could be better utilised to provide more recreational opportunities for the community, while supporting improved access and movement throughout the area.

Two options are being explored to help shape the future of Rudd Park.

Option A – playground with bike and scooter track

This option focuses on revitalising Rudd Park as a family-friendly recreational space.

Proposed improvements include:

  • a new playground
  • a children’s bike and scooter track
  • improved picnic & BBQ facilities
  • retaining the outdoor gym in its current location
  • improved pedestrian connections across the park.

Within this option, the existing playground in John Laws Park (located across the road on the foreshore) would be removed and replaced with open green space.

This option also includes a new car park in Rudd Park with relocated spaces from the Burleigh Hill and Goodwin Terrace car parks. There would be no reduction of parking within the precinct.

Option B – public swimming lagoon

This option proposes a new public swimming lagoon in Rudd Park, designed as a free, family-friendly community facility.

Proposed features include:

  • a public swimming lagoon with 25 metre lap lanes
  • a children’s paddling pool
  • retention of the outdoor gym, relocated within the park.

This option includes a new car park in Rudd Park with additional car parking spaces to support pool users.

Within this option the existing playground in John Laws Park would be retained.
