What is Riesenweber Park?

Riesenweber Park is a well-used local park in Jacobs Well. It includes open space, recreation facilities and a community centre, and is an important place for the local community to connect, play and relax.

Why are we consulting the community?

We are seeking feedback on the draft concept design to understand community support and gather input on key features and layout.

Your feedback will help refine the design and inform future priorities for the park.

    What improvements are proposed?

The draft concept plan includes a range of potential improvements such as:

    • upgraded sports and recreation facilities
    • enhanced playground and outdoor fitness equipment
    • shaded picnic and barbecue facilities
    • improvements to accessibility and overall park layout
    • improved pathway connections
    • additional recreation opportunities, including asphalt pump track and flexible open space for community use.

Will all improvements be built at once?

No. Delivery is expected to occur in stages over time, subject to community support, future funding, approvals and detailed design.

This staged approach allows improvements to be prioritised over time.

Will trees or vegetation be removed?

Retaining significant vegetation is a priority for this project.

The concept design aims to retain established trees. Some minor vegetation changes may be required as part of detailed design, and opportunities for additional planting will also be considered.

Why is a multi-purpose court proposed?

The draft concept design proposes a multi-purpose court to maximise flexibility and support a range of activities such as basketball, netball and informal sport. This approach allows more people to use the space for a variety of activities. Community feedback will help confirm support for this approach.

What will happen to the existing tennis courts?

The draft concept design proposes replacing the existing tennis courts with a larger multi-purpose court area to support a wider range of recreational activities.

We understand this may be an important issue for some community members. Your feedback will help inform the final design and confirm whether this approach is supported.

    Will the dog park change?

The draft concept design proposes a new location for the dog off-leash area in the south-west corner of the park. Your feedback will help inform this approach and any future planning.

Will lighting be included in the park?

Opportunities to improve pathway lighting are being considered. Your feedback will help inform future planning and priorities.

    How can I provide feedback?

You can provide feedback by completing the online survey on this page during the consultation period.

Consultation is now open from 30 June to 20 July 2026.

    What happens after consultation closes?

All feedback will be reviewed and analysed.

A community engagement outcomes report will be prepared, and the results will help inform future design development and delivery priorities.

The report will be published on the project page.
