What is the aim of this project?

This project aims to reinstate Redondo Park, creating public recreational parkland that will provide a greener and more usable space for the community. Our goal is to create a welcoming park that provides amenity and recreational opportunity for everyone.

What is currently at Redondo Park?

Currently the Redondo Park site is being used for Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3 construction offices, so there is no park open yet. Upon completion of Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3 the park will be reinstated, with the new Miami Station located just across the road, with crossings into the park.

Are the tennis courts being reinstated?

Redondo Park was previously home to the Miami Tennis Club, which has since been relocated to Pizzey Park. To continue providing recreational opportunities for the community, one of the design options includes a public tennis court which can be used for tennis.

Will the proposed tennis court be free for public use?

The proposed tennis court will be available free of charge for public use. The court will operate on a first-come, first-served basis, so no booking is required.

Is this plan the final design?

No. The City of Gold Coast is only in the early design phase of this project and would like to hear your feedback which help shape and influence further design of this park. Following this consultation we will release the results from the survey, and how this will influence the design.

    When will construction commence?

Construction commencement of the park is dependant on the completion of the Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3 project. Upon completion, the Gold Coast Light Rail contractor will vacate the park, and reinstatement works will commence. We are committed to keeping the community informed about the timing of works, and will share updates in advance of construction commencing.

Will the park be accessible for everyone?

Yes. The design will aim to be inclusive, with pathways, facilities, and spaces that can be used by people of all ages and abilities.

Will the park create additional traffic and disturbance?

Once reinstated, the park is unlikely to create noticeable increase in traffic from people visiting. Some increase in noise is expected during active use of the tennis court. The design will aim to minimise this impact on neighbouring residents.
