High-Rise Food Organics Recycling trial

Residents from selected high-rise buildings from Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach and Main Beach have been identified to participate in this trial.

We're taking composting to new heights!

Food organics make up approximately 31% of what gets thrown into the general waste bins of high-rise residential properties.

We’re asking you to recycle your food organics to help us to better understand the challenges and opportunities of servicing these buildings in the future.

We’ll give you a free caddy and all you need to do is fill it with your food organics. Yes, all food can go into the caddy – including leftovers, food scraps, spoiled food, bones and eggshells. Don’t worry, we’ll give you more information to help you on your recycling journey. Once your caddy is full, you’ll simply take it down and empty it into the dedicated food organics wheelie bin in your buildings bin area. We’ll then collect it and turn it into compost - it’s that easy.

The trial will run for 6 months (29 April – 31 October 2024) and you’ll be given a kitchen caddy, enough compostable caddy liners for the duration of the trial and some great information on the entire recycling process. To gather the important insights we need, we’ll email you 3 surveys to complete (April, July, November).

Keen to start recycling? Simply, register your details below.

Not only are you helping the environment, but you also go in the draw to win 1 of 6 $250 EFTPOS cards (terms and conditions apply).

In Australia, one in 5 bags of groceries bought each week is thrown out. Recycling your food organics is one small thing that you can do to make a big difference.
