The City of Gold Coast (the City) is proposing additional administrative changes to three of our dog off leash areas, following engagement with the community after the initial amendment in 2023.
Administrative changes are proposed for Coomera Sports Park, Wallaby Park and Emerald Lakes Parklands.
We need your feedback to help us plan effectively when considering these important changes.
We seek to provide the facilities needed for increased dog registration and population numbers, while carefully considering safety, wildlife conservation and legal requirements.
Criteria considered includes environmental status, an exchange of land ownership or community agreement regarding unsuitability of designation.
Have your say on the latest changes by 5pm 15 July 2024 by:
- Choosing the relevant park and reviewing latest maps and information
- Complete the online submission form or download a printable submission form to scan and email gchaveyoursay@goldcoast.qld.gov.au , post to Chief Executive Officer, City of Gold Coast, PO Box 5042, Gold Coast MC 9726, or deliver in person to City of Gold Coast Customer Service Centres
- Hard copies of submission forms and relevant documents are also available at all City of Gold Coast customer service centres.
Community engagement is open from Tuesday 25 June to Monday 15 July 2024.

City of Gold Coast (City) is responsible for animal control areas and is proposing administrative changes to the Animal Control Area Register impacting three dog off leash areas.
Local Law No. 12 (Animal Management) 2013 allows the City to designate or redact any part of a park, foreshore or bathing reserve as an animal control area. Read more about Local Law No. 12 (Animal Management) 2013.
After the completion of the amendment process in 2023, further information was provided by the community, prompting this proposed administrative amendment of the Animal Control Area Register.
Proposed amendments include:
- moving existing dog off leash areas
- removing an existing animal control area
The proposed administrative changes are based on suggestions from the community, councillor requests and information provided from key stakeholders. Factors such as environmental impacts, community safety and residential growth have been considered when evaluating each proposed change.
